President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on his 81st birthday.

In a congratulatory message communicated by his spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Thursday in Abuja, Buhari rejoiced with the religious leader, who left his academic career to fully commit to serving the Lord.

The president equally felicitated family, friends and other church leaders within and outside the country, thankful for Adeboye’s positive influence on people and institutions, with a focus on expanding the kingdom of God on earth.

While recalling the visits and prayers, especially when he was ill and recuperating, Buhari said he remained grateful for the friendliness and wise counsels of the General Overseer over many years.

The president prayed that the God would continue to bless and guide Adeboye and his family.

Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu, has also congratulated the leader of the biggest Pentecostal movement in Nigeria and one of the biggest in the world.

“Today, I rejoice with Pastor E. A. Adeboye on his special day and praise God on his behalf for the privilege to see his 81st birthday in good health and even greater commitment to the work of God as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide,” he said.

“As a minister of the gospel, Baba Adeboye has been an exemplary model whose teachings and counsel have continued to serve as moderating and stabilising influence in our country.”
