The Federal Government has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Poland to address food security crisis in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Both nations signed the pact on Tuesday when President Muhammadu Buhari received the Polish President, Andrzej Duda, who was on a state visit to Nigeria.

The Memorandum of Cooperation aims to improve agricultural productivity in Nigeria.

During his visit to the State House in Abuja, the Polish leader stated that 10 pivotal areas were raised in his conversations with President Buhari, but top among them were the issues of food and energy security.

He promised that Poland would develop its commercial ties with Nigeria in order to address both the food problem and energy security.
According to President Duda, this strategic discussion is crucial for the future of the two UN-member countries.

Similarly, President Buhari and the Polish leader discussed the supply of both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil to Poland and the European Union.

President Duda acknowledged Nigeria’s abundance in these natural resources and stated that LNG supplies from Nigeria to his home country had already taken place.

He made a suggestion that his nation wanted to enhance supply from Nigeria to Poland, further solidifying the two nations’ already strong economic ties.
