Nigeria’s commercial bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), has announced that all its Lagos branches will close early on Wednesday following the announcement that repairs will be carried out on the Third Mainland Bridge.
GTBank in an email to its customers on Tuesday explained that its electronic services will be available.
“Please be informed that our branches in Lagos will close earlier than usual on Wednesday, February 28 due to the recent announcement by the Federal Ministry of Works to close the Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours.
GTBank added “Please take note of the early closure time: Lagos branches: 3 pm
“We encourage you to take advantage of our secure, convenient and always-on alternative channels for any of your banking needs.”
The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges that connect Lagos Island to the mainland; the other two are the Eko and Carter Bridges. It was Africa’s longest bridge until 1996, when the 6th of October Bridge in Cairo was built.
