President Bola Tinubu’s N2.1 trillion supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023 has been approved by the Senate.
This was a follow-up to the approval and debate of the Senate Committee on Appropriations’ report during Thursday’s plenary.
The committee, chaired by Senator Solomon Adeola of the All Progressives Congress, Ogun West, met with the heads of the seven affected agencies until late Wednesday night and informed journalists that the reports on the supplementary budgetary proposals would be submitted to the red chambers of the National Assembly for final consideration and passage on Thursday.
On Thursday, Sen. Adeola laid the committee’s report, which was adopted and debated before Akpabio put it to a voice vote.
After putting the report to a voice vote, senators across party lines voted in favour, and the Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, hit the gavel to announce the approval.
