Gunmen have reportedly stormed the Kiyawa Local Government Chairman’s residence in Jigawa State and kidnapped his two wives.
Nasiru Ahmed Kiyawa, the LG Chairman, told newsmen that gunmen raided his residence after Isha’i prayer on Friday night, chasing everybody outside before whisking them away to an unknown place.
“They fired twice at my door before entering,” the chairman said. “From there, they took my two wives; they are still holding them hostage,” he said.
DSP Lawan Adam Shiisu, the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence, saying they received an emergency call and quickly dispatched officers to the location.
However, he noted that “before the arrival of the police officers, the gunmen had already kidnapped the chairman’s wives and fled”.
Shiisu stated that officers had already been dispatched to all nooks and crannies of the area to rescue the victims.
He also urged members of the public to provide any relevant information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.
