English Premier League club Arsenal have shown a lot of seriousness in their pursuit to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with the club setting aside the sum of £120 million to land the Napoli man, the UK tabloid Teamtalk reports.
Chelsea recently stated that Osimhen was still at the top of the club’s wish list and that the club was prepared to sign the Nigerian during the January transfer window.
Arsenal have also entered the fray for the 24-year-old, as the Gunners want a world-class striker.
Osimhen has been on fire for Napoli for the last 18 months.
He scored 31 goals in all competitions last season, helping Napoli break a 33-year drought for the Serie A title.
His outstanding performances drew the attention of a number of clubs throughout the summer, but the Naples-based club managed to keep its star.
Napoli would prefer to extend his contract, but numerous big European teams, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, are interested in the Nigerian international.
In order to win the race for the Nigerian striker, the North London club, which has not won a league title since 2004, has set aside £120 million.
Should the Napoli talisman make the move to England for the rumored fee, he might surpass Chelsea’s Premier League record of £106.8 million for Enzo Fernandez.
