Following a smoke problem, a probable fire was averted at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, on Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported about 7:50 a.m., according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)’s Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua.
The source of the smoke, according to the authorities, was determined as coming from the terminal building’s basement.
“Promptly responding to the situation, the dedicated firefighters from the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport initiated immediate action,”
“Their swift response and professional efforts have successfully brought the situation under control.” Yakubu-Funtua stated
Yakubu-Funtua further assured members of the public of FAAN’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers, staff, and all airport users.
