The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has highlighted ten safety rules for safe driving and charged drivers to maintain a 3-second gap in safe distance driving.
In a viral X (formerly Twitter) post on the official social media page, the police created an awareness campaign on safe driving rules.
Stay safe behind the wheel! Must-know safety rules while driving;
1. Obey traffic signals: red means stop, green means go. Don’t rush!
2. No texting and driving: Your phone can wait. Keep your eyes on the road.
3. Maintain safe speeds: Speed limits exist for a reason. Slow down!
4. Keep a safe following distance: Maintain a 3-second gap to react in time.
5. Use seat belts: buckle up every trip, every time.
6. Respect road signs. They guide your way; follow them diligently.
7. Use headlights to ensure visibility, even in daylight.
8. Don’t drink and drive: Alcohol impairs judgement. Stay sober.
9. Be courteous: show respect to fellow drivers and share the road.
10. Regular vehicle maintenance: Ensure brakes, tires, and lights are in top shape.
The police wrote, “Wishing all drivers a safe and responsible journey today! Have a great day at work, friends”, Chronicle NG reports.
