The National Union of Banks, Insurance, and Financial Institutions Employees (NUBIFIE) has announced a two-day withdrawal of services on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5 and 6, 2023.
This was announced in a circular signed by Mohammed I. Sheiekh, the General Secretary of the Union.
According to the union, the two-day withdrawal of services is in line with “the communiqué issued after the meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, that all affiliates should direct all their members to commence a two-day withdrawal of services from Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5 and 6, 2023.”
According to the circular, the union noted that the withdrawal of services of banks and other financial institutions is “imperative to get the needed attention of the government and warn it of its new-found love of meddling in the internal affairs of the union rather than address the punishing economic circumstances we find ourselves in.”
The union thereby directed “all organs to comply with this directive by ensuring all our members stay off duty for two days.”
