Operatives of the Niger State Police Command, Tafa Division, have apprehended nine suspected criminals after their vehicle was littered with bullets.
The suspects were reported to be in a Volkswagen Sharon vehicle with the license plate LKJ 739 BJ when they were apprehended along the Kaduna-Abuja route at Sabon-Wuse Tafa Local Government Area.
The suspects, Mohammed Sani, Hakimi Abdullahi, Aminu Bello, Buhari Abdullahi, Tasiu Abdullahi, Bello Auwal, Kabiru Abubakar, Abdullahi Dabo, and Babangida Ibrahim, were immediately arrested.
Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesman, said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the nine men specialize in targeting and monitoring faulty trucks along Abuja-Kaduna, Keffi-Jos, Nasarawa-Akwanga, and Minna-Suleja Roads.
“The syndicate was discovered to have been engaging in attacking and breaking trucks and containers and looting items and property contained therein.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and claimed that they have a warehouse at Akwanga where they keep the loot while they sell the items in Kano State.
“They later attempted to bribe the DPO to terminate the case with an offer of N500,000. All the suspects have been arrested and transferred to the SCID Minna for further investigation”.
