Neymar has admitted that his decision to quit European football for Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal was motivated by his desire to become a “global player.”
On Tuesday, the Brazilian finalized his £78 million move to Saudi Arabia after leaving reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain after six years in France.
The Brazilian will earn a whopping £260m after agreeing a two-year deal in the Middle East, but he has claimed his true reasons for leaving PSG aren’t down to the money on offer.
The 31-year-old is expected to get a hero’s welcome when he is presented as Al-Hilal’s newest summer recruit, with the club spending millions on a ceremony.
The attacker, who spoke after his transfer, explained, “I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places”.
