….as FG shuts Lagos airport old terminal
Aviation minister, Festus Keyamo has disclosed that the old international terminal building, which will be closed for repairs, will be replaced by the new terminal building from October 1, 2023, for all international airlines using the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
Festus Keyamo, the aviation minister, made this statement on Thursday while giving a tour of the airport’s aviation facilities in Lagos.
Additionally, Keyamo pledged to modernize the aviation industry.
He claims that in order to allow for an accurate audit of the contracts, all agreements made under his predecessor Hadi Sirika, including the proposed Nigeria Air, have been suspended.
The minister stated his primary concern is aviation safety while riding a bus to examine the airport’s perimeter barrier.
In June, amid controversy surrounding the launch of Nigeria Air, the country’s flag carrier, veteran pilot Girma Wake resigned from her position as chairman of Ethiopian Airlines.
The aircraft used to unveil the nation’s national career was a legitimate chartered flight from Ethiopian Airlines, according to Interim Managing Director of Nigeria Air Capt. Dapo Olumide. He also said the aircraft was returned to Ethiopian Airlines after the unveiling on the final day of the Muhammadu Buhari administration in May.
The aviation committees of Nigeria’s Senate and House of Representatives have both called the inauguration of the Nigeria Air a hoax.
