England captain Harry Kane made his Bayern Munich debut in the German Super Cup, which they lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig.
The striker came in as a 64th-minute replacement at the Allianz Arena, just hours after completing his £86 million deal from Tottenham.
He had a few touches but made little of an impression.
Leipzig’s Dani Olmo scored a hat-trick to deprive Kane, 30, of his first goal of his career.
Olmo scored his first goal in the bottom corner after a cross was not cleared. His second was spectacular, turning Matthijs de Ligt before sliding between the legs of Sven Ulreich.
After Kane’s entrance, the Spain attacker completed his hat-trick with a penalty.
Kane’s days in Germany will improve as he gets to know his new teammates. He had only joined Bayern on the morning of the game, so his presence was unexpected.
He has 354 goals in his career and holds the records for Tottenham Hotspur (280) and England (58).
Leipzig’s achievement was even more amazing given that they lost three of their key players to the Premier League this summer.
Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol joined Manchester City for £77 million, Hungary midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai joined Liverpool for £60 million, and France attacker Christopher Nkunku joined Chelsea for £52 million.
The German Super Cup is comparable to the Community Shield in England, with Bayern qualifying as Bundesliga champions and Leipzig qualifying as German Cup champions.
Bayern won the German Super Cup last season, 5-3 against Leipzig.
