Residents in Sokoto State have been warned not to panic if they hear gunshots or see troops moving, as the 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, will begin an inter-Brigade Range Classification Competition.
They stated that the exercise was for Warrant officers and senior non-commission officers (SNCOs) and will take place on Tuesday, August 8 at Tankwale village shooting range in Sokoto.
The drill would include army mobility and live ammunition fire at the range on Illela Road in Sokoto State.
According to a statement made available to Sokoto newsmen by Lieutenant Colonel Ikechukwu Eze, the purpose of the range classification exercise is to increase combat competence, fire abilities, and marksmanship among troops within the cadre of non-commission officers.
The statement asked Tankwale village residents and visitors to avoid the general vicinity of the firing range during the exercise.
The general population is also advised not to panic if they see military in and near Illela Road, Sokoto State, according to the statement.
