Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, the acting Controller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has declared a state of emergency on passports related matters in the country.
The NIS boss stated this during a working visit to Lagos where she emphasized how expedient it is to address the challenges Nigerians face in getting Passports in the country.
According to Tony Akuneme, the Comptroller of Immigration overseeing Media and Publicity, the acting Comptroller General of Immigration has established a plan of action to mitigate these passport related issues effectively.
The Nigeria Immigration boss had previously urged all Passport Control Officers, relevant units and people within the Nigeria Immigration Service, including overseas missions, to work relentlessly to remove all impediments to Nigerians obtaining passports quickly.
The Ag. CGI encourages all Nigerians to be patient and work alongside with the NIS as it takes decisive actions to address the Passport difficulties, reminding the public that efforts are being taken to ensure that every qualified Nigerian who requires a Passport will receive one in no distant time.
