A gas explosion in a Delta State community has brought to an abrupt end the life of a clergyman Adese Onos, his wife and a domestic staff. The clergyman until his demise was the representative of the President General in the Forum of President-Generals of Urhobo Kingdoms.
The explosion which occurred on Thursday at Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area, is also home to Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate and Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the recently conducted Delta State gubernatorial election.
While earlier reports suggested that the explosion injured Pastor Onos, his wife and their housemaid at their Orogun residence, pastor Onos eventually gave up the ghost.
Latest reports gathered revealed that though the domestic aid died on Saturday, the pastor’s wife passed on on Sunday due to injuries sustained in the explosion.
Confirming the death of the clergy man, the Chairman of the Forum of President Generals in Urhobo Nation, Chief Godwin Notoma, described the demise of the representative of the president general of Orogun Kingdom as a monumental loss to the association.
In the same vein, the President General of Agbarha Warri Kingdom, Chief Emmanuel Ememu (JP), described the death of Pastor Adese as shocking.
He described the representative of the president general of Orogun Kingdom in the Forum of Presidents General in Urhobo Nation as a levelheaded, efficient and straightforward person.
“He never claimed to be the president general of Orogun Kingdom in our forum, but he would rather always introduce himself as the representative of the president general of Orogun Kingdom, saying that shows the humility and honesty in him,” Chief Ememu added.
While the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) advocates for safety measures in the usage of gas cylinders and cookers in Nigeria, we pray God grants the bereaved, the Urhobo Nation and the entire Delta State the fortitude to bear the loss.
