A policeman and a local vigilante leader have been reportedly killed during an attack by bandits in Nahuche district in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to an eyewitness, Malan Abubakar, the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday morning (around 3am to 4am), during which the bandits abducted two women and two men.
Abubakar said that the assailants first invaded a nearby village in Nahuche called Gidan Jan Bul. The gunmen killed the vigilante leader of the village when he tried to resist them.
“They also whisked away my wife and moved her for captivity,” he said.
The source added that the bandits later attacked Nahuche police station where they engaged mobile policemen in a gun duel, during which a police officer was killed.
According to him, the gunmen later invaded the house of Alhaji Makwashe Nahuche, a businessman, where the bandits abducted two other persons including a woman.
The Zamfara state police command was yet to confirm the inicident at the time of filing this report.
The latest attack comes barely 48 hours after bandits abducted over 73 students from Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara state.
Chronicle NG reported that the incident occured around 11am on Wednesday while the students were having classes.
