A group of armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have killed five persons in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state.
In a related incident, a man identified as an Irigwe youth was killed on Monday night in Jos.
The bandits attacked on Tuesday night despite the dusk to dawn curfew imposed in Bassa Local Government Area.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association, Comrade Danjuma Dickson Auta said, “As the Irigwe nation continues to receive attacks from left right and centre over the unfortunate incident at Rukuba road, where innocent commuters which the Irigwe nation knows nothing about, we have continued to distance ourselves from the ungodly act as peace loving citizens.
“Yet, last night, 17th August 2021, one of our villages, Chando-Zrrechi (Tafi-Gana), was attacked by Fulani Herdsmen.
“Five people have been confirmed dead so far at Tafi Gana village of Miango District Irigwe Chiefdom”.
He added that, “this is apart from another son of Irigwe killed at Dong village of Jos North LGA, in the evening of 16th August 2021, despite the 24 hour curfew imposed on the council.”
Auta called on security operatives and the government to put a stop to the rampant attacks meted on their communities.
“If nothing is done to avert this ugly trend, Irigwe people will be wiped out. We see this as ethnic cleansing”, he decried.
