Writing on her official Twitter page, Rep. Dingell wrote, “Mr. President, let’s set politics aside. My husband earned all his accolades after a lifetime of service. I’m preparing for the first holiday season without the man I love. You brought me down in a way you can never imagine and your hurtful words just made my healing much harder.”
Rep. Dingell’s husband, John David Dingell Jr. was an American politician who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1955 until 2015.
A member of the Democratic Party, he holds the record for longest-ever serving member of Congress in American history, representing Michigan for more than 59 years.
He died in February, 2019 at the age of 92.
