Arsene Wenger has been spotted in Nice with chief executive Ivan Gazidis as speculation mounts that Arsenal could be poised to make a move for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe.

The Arsenal boss has been pictured in the south of France along the French Riviera and looked deep in conversation with Gazidis as they plan a busy summer of transfer acitivity.

Cote d’Azur Airport in Nice is the nearest location to Monaco and the presence of both Wenger and Gazidis has only heightened speculation that a deal for Mbappe could be moving a step closer to being completed.

Wenger finally pledged his long-term future to the Gunners last week following months of uncertainty over his future and hopes to bring in several big signings that can help the club compete for the title.

Mbappe was one of the star performers in Europe last season scoring 26 goals in just 44 appearances and played a major role in helping Monaco win the title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

With uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexis Sanchez who only has 12 months left on his current deal, Wenger is keen to bring another quality forward into his squad.

Arsenal face stiff competition to clinch the signing of Mbappe as both Manchester clubs and Real Madrid have also been strongly linked with a move for the teenage superstar.

Mbappe recently stated that he will make a decision on his long-term future after he plays for France against Paraguay, Sweden and England in the next ten days.

Mbappe, speaking in an interview with French outlet Telefoo, said: “My future? For the moment I do not know.

“With the Vice President (Vadim Vasilyev) we agreed to aim for the title and we put everything aside because my aim was to win this title with the club that formed me.

“I put all the rumours and the questions regarding my future to the back of my head and I will assess them after the French national team.”
