No fewer than 180 Nigerians who had been stranded in Libya returned home on Wednesday evening, demonstrating a substantial effort to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
The group arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos about 7:30 p.m. on a charter flight provided by Al-Buraq Airlines.
Returnees were 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 babies.
This evacuation was made possible by a coordinated effort between the International Organisation for Migration and the National Emergency Management Agency’s Lagos Territory Office.
The Nigerian Immigration Service profiled the returnees biometrically upon arrival to make sure they had the right paperwork and assistance.
In addition, the returnees received humanitarian aid from a number of government organisations to help with their reintegration into society.
