The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has appealed to the public for assistance in locating one of its students who has been declared missing.
According to a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the Acting Director, Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, the university identified the student as Sadiya Usman, a 100-level student of the Department of Accounting.
UniAbuja stated that she “was reported missing after she left her residence at Kontagora Estate, Gwagwalada, Abuja, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 18 February 2026.”
She was said to be on her way to the university’s Main Campus to write her CBT examination (GST 111) and “has not been seen since.”
According to the statement, her guardian reported that “all efforts to reach her have been unsuccessful, as her phone line remains unreachable and her whereabouts are currently unknown.”
The institution claimed it had “activated internal safety protocols” and will be “working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to locate the student promptly and safely.”
The college expressed concern for her safety, stating that the university community is “deeply concerned about her safety” and requesting “timely information that could assist in her safe return.”
Members of the public who may have seen the student or know where she is were advised to contact the nearest police station or the university’s Directorate of Safety.
The university reaffirmed its commitment to “the welfare and security of all its students” and promised to give updates as they become available.
