Manchester United battled to a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford, despite being reduced to 10 men before halftime. The win marked their third triumph over newly promoted sides this season.

Ipswich took an early lead just four minutes in after a mix-up at the back. Goalkeeper Andre Onana’s rushed approach allowed Patrick Dorgu to set up Jaden Philogene, who calmly rolled the ball into an empty net.

Manchester United responded with sustained pressure, and their equalizer came via a Bruno Fernandes free-kick that deflected off Sam Morsy and into the Ipswich net.

Moments later, another Fernandes set-piece caused chaos in the box, with Matthijs de Ligt reacting quickest to fire home the rebound.

The game took another dramatic turn when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a dangerous challenge on Omari Hutchinson.

Ipswich capitalized on their numerical advantage before halftime, as Philogene’s cross evaded everyone and curled into the bottom corner, leveling the score at 2-2.

Despite being a man down, United found the breakthrough just two minutes into the second half. Fernandes delivered a pinpoint corner, and Harry Maguire rose highest to head the ball into the bottom corner, putting the hosts back in front.

Ipswich pushed for an equalizer, with Liam Delap and George Hirst both going close, but United’s defense held firm. Onana made crucial stops, while Fernandes contributed defensively, blocking Axel Tuanzebe’s effort before launching a counterattack.

Manchester United’s resilience secured their first league win in four matches, while Ipswich remain five points adrift of safety after suffering their sixth defeat in seven games.
