An explosion rocked the Kidandan community in Kaduna State‘s Giwa Local Government Area as ten children were playing with explosive devices.
Although authorities were yet to respond to the incident, journalists were informed that the devastating incident occurred on Saturday.
The incident reportedly sparked anger and terror in the largely Hausa neighborhood.
According to a source, “tension gripped Kidandan Village in the Giwa council of Kaduna State on Saturday afternoon.
“Ten children suffered injuries in a sudden explosion. The incident occurred while the children were playing with an object discovered in a nearby bush.
“Emergency services are there while an investigation is ongoing.”
This incident comes on the heels of a devastating explosion that wreaked havoc in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Oyo state governor Seyi Makinde disclosed that two people died and seventy-seven (77) were wounded in an explosion that rocked Ibadan.
He said preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that the incident that rocked the Bodija Area of Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday was caused by explosive devices stored by illegal miners.
“Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there, which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book,” he said.
He added that two people died and 77 others were injured in the explosion.
