Motorists and commuters using the Asaba-Kwale-Warri Road in Delta State are currently experiencing difficulty connecting to their destinations due to the collapse of the road bridge.
Motorists and commuters were trapped along the Ogwashi-Uku-Kwale axis due to the collapse.
Our source learned that the bridge was under construction and virtually finished when it fell on Monday night.
When our correspondent visited the site on Tuesday, authorities from the construction company, CCECC, declined to comment on the cause of the collapse.
Our correspondent, however, saw stranded motorists on both sides of the collapsed bridge.
Some commuters were also seen trekking across the collapsed bridge to join other vehicles that were equally stranded on that side of the bridge to continue their journey.
Efforts made to reach the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Noel Omodon, for comment, failed as calls put across to him were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.
It was, however, gathered that the commissioner had earlier inspected the collapsed bridge.
Meanwhile, motorists and commuters traveling to Kwale, Ozoro, Ughelli, and Warri from Asaba had been advised to use alternative routes.
