Ikoyi club kicks off the Christmas season

Members of the executive committee of Ikoyi Club 1938 kicked off the Christmas season and festivities with the switching on of the Christmas lights on Friday December 1, 2017.

The ceremony was officiated by the chairman of the club, Babatunde Akinleye who was supported by captains of various sections as well as members of sub-committees.

Speaking during the ceremony Mr. Akinleye said the switching on ceremony “signals the official start of the Christmas season and signifies the spirit of joy that is at the heart of Ikoyi Club 1938.”

The entertainment sub-committee of Ikoyi Club 1938 has announced a schedule of activities for the Christmas season – December 8: International Nite with King Sunny Ade and Omawumi; December 17: Children’s Party and January 5, Elders Day Highlife Nite.

The club was established as a European club in 1938 in Ikoyi, Lagos.

It was originally converted from a prison to a rest house.

It occupies approximately 456 acres of land. In the subsequent years, the European Club merged with the Lagos Golf Club.

Besides the golf course, Ikoyi Club also has many sports and relaxation amenities which provide first class facilities for members and their families.

Today, the club has grown from its exclusively European membership to modern day membership of diverse nationalities.
